Supporting the U.S. Coast Guard

in Fiberglass Boat Construction Training

Pioneer Boats was honored to host a group of future Coast Guard inspectors for a hands-on training session focused on fiberglass boat construction. The visit was part of their technical training, designed to deepen their understanding of boatbuilding techniques and materials used throughout the marine industry.

During their time at our Walterboro facility, the six trainees learned how to identify proper resin-to-glass ratios, assess overall hull condition, recognize stress points, and detect possible delamination concerns. They also studied how to interpret fiberglass repairs after damage—critical skills for ensuring vessel safety and compliance in the field.

The group, currently training in Charleston, will eventually serve in inspection and investigation roles across the globe. Carolina Composites is proud to contribute to their education and to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s ongoing commitment to maritime safety.

Through collaboration and industry partnership, Pioneer Boats continues to champion safety, quality, and craftsmanship—both on the water and in the next generation of marine professionals.
